How I Work

I offer both short and long-term counselling. Appointments are approximately
50 minutes long, and are usually on the same day each week.

My practice is based around the relationship we build together, but experience has
taught me that different people have different needs, so in addition, I may use skills
from other theoretical models. Some issues that are often brought to counselling
sessions are relationship difficulties, loss and bereavement, stress, anxiety, depression,
anger, abuse, and addictions, to name but a few. We work together on whatever you
wish to bring to the session, and work at a pace that is comfortable for you.

I am here to listen and help you

At our first meeting, we will discuss what you are hoping to achieve from our work together, and any
questions or worries you may have.

My practice is fully insured and I work within the ethical framework of the BACP.

“I can be myself now, who I really am, I don’t feel I have to put a mask on every morning.
Heather has given me the confidence to truly be myself.”

"Thank you for being there, for taking every step with me, for helping me get through it all and to make my own choices and decisions"

“No matter how bad things were, and they really were bad, Heather was there for me. Without her in my corner, I wouldn’t be here now.”

"Heather is easy to talk to and on numerous visits, I would suddenly realise something that hadn’t occurred to me before; because I’d never voiced it, or simply because Heather’s way of communicating seems to bring things to light, seemingly without trying.

In a nutshell she has transformed how I view myself and other people - I doubt myself less, feel less guilt and I’m much stronger and content with who I am.

The most astonishing part for me, is the lasting effects of my sessions with her, I still feel great many weeks on and I know she is still there if I need her.

I would definitely recommend Heather as a great counsellor, I just should have gone to her sooner!"
